Mobile crushing equipment that burns diesel fuel is regulated as nonroad mobile machinery. In Europe, that usually means the engine must meet the requirements in Regulation (EU) 2016/1628, often called Stage V, unless an exemption applies. In the United States, the engine needs to conform to the applicable EPA nonroad emission standards, and the certificate or family designation should be traceable. You should be able to match the engine serial number on the physical label to the document, not just to a brochure line.
The low-price importer responded with a classic: 'We can provide that after closing.' Then came a second message saying the certificate would come directly from the engine manufacturer and that the importer could not be responsible for delays. For me, that is a risk, not a discount.

Their package included an engine declaration with the model number, a serial number format that would match the machine, information about the exhaust aftertreatment system, and a confirmation that the equipment could be configured for the stage our project needed. If the supplier cannot prove the full chain of custody for the engine module, you become the person who spends days emailing overseas warehouses to find out whether your oil filter is part of a common crossover.
I went back and forth between the two options for another week. The importer's quote was lower on paper; my knowledge of crusher maintenance pulled me the other way. Ultimately, I built a revised TCO model that included the probability of a six-week delay if the compliance paperwork failed. That single change erased most of the importer's price advantage.
